Modernization of elevator ACS for Aktau Marine North Terminal LLP

Specialists of GC "Zernovaya Stolitsa" carried out modernization of the existing automatic process control system (APCS), integration of control of bunker scales, compressors, as well as aspiration into the general automation system of the grain transshipment complex of "Aktau Marine North Terminal" LLP.

The main purpose of modernization is to reduce the influence of human factor on production processes and, as a consequence, to increase the efficiency of work, reduce the cost of maintenance, repair and recovery work and emergency downtime.

The works were carried out in 2 stages:

Stage I - Design:

• Modernization of the ACS system of the grain transshipment complex.
• Integration of ACS of hopper scales and air compressors into the general automation system.

II stage - Realization:

• Development and implementation of SCADA-system.
• Modernization of technological equipment.
• Chief installation and commissioning works.

Within the framework of this project the following works were performed:

• Replacement of the existing PLC, installation of additional I/O modules to integrate new devices and mechanisms into the system.
• Implementation of a pre-start light and sound signaling system for transport equipment.
• A turnkey SCADA-system for independent management, administration and the possibility of further expansion (development) has been realized.
• Fully functional, user-friendly and intuitive interface of the control system operator with visualization of product movement processes and information messages has been implemented.
• Continuous round-the-clock operation of the complex was ensured, taking into account technological breaks required for proper operation and maintenance.

The customer's requirements for equipment operation and industrial safety, in particular, were taken into account when performing the works:

• Emergency stop buttons were installed on belt conveyors and burrows, in the tail and head sections; emergency cable switches were installed along the conveyors.
• The operation of light and sound warning signaling is ensured.
• The system of emergency shutdown of input circuit breakers of control cabinets from the operator's room was realized.

The result of the work performed is the implementation of modernized control of the grain transshipment complex, which included the development, debugging and commissioning of an improved automated process control system for Aktau Marine North Terminal LLP, Republic of Kazakhstan.
